UVM Welcomes New President

Posted: Updated:

Burlington, Vermont - The University of Vermont officially greeted its new president on Wednesday.

E. Thomas Sullivan addressed a crowd including Governor Peter Shumlin, the UVM Board of Trustees, students, and faculty.

Sullivan comes from the University of Minnesota where he was the Senior Vice President and Provost.

When he first starts, he says he wants to address controlling education costs for students and gaining more funding from private and public sources.

"We need to be able to increase our revenue both private and public in order to set the right priorities and make the right investments. The benefit of which will all come to the State of Vermont," Sullivan said.

Sullivan is replacing interim president John Bramley after the former president, Dan Fogel, resigned over personal issues. Sullivan starts July 15.
