Warren, Vermont - President's Day is Monday and with the three day weekend, ski resorts are hoping to cash in big when it comes to attracting large crowds.
Ski season may have come late, but you wouldn't have guessed it with the turnout at Sugarbush Resort.
"It's been a bit of a slow season but this weekend people have come out, it's been great conditions and we've even had a little bit of snow," says owner of Sugarbush Win Smith.
He says Sugarbush has seen over eight feet of snow this season.
"Skier visits are up this year for the weekend so we're really pleased about how the week has started," says Smith.
Smith says on Saturday, they were up almost 20% in revenue from last year. He expects Sunday to surpass last year as well.
"We're going to be ahead of last year, I'm guessing around 10%," says Smith.
With the ability to make snow, he says they've been 100% open for three weeks now.
The resort is also booked.
"I'd say it's as strong as we've seen in a number of years," says Smith.
One of the cool things Sugarbush did this year was advertise to young folks. They used Facebook and they even gave discounts to beginner skiers.
"School weeks are really good because you get families that stay up the whole week," says Smith.
Smith also looks forward to the month of March when Canadians don't have school. He says that month brings in a lot of tourist dollars.
