New Airline Regulations Help Travelers Avoid Hidden Fees

Posted: Updated:

Good news for families who may be looking to fly south for winter break.

The U.S. Department of Transportation has rolled out new passenger protections to help you steer clear of hidden fees, online. The regulations are forcing airlines to be more up front about extra fees. Baggage, seating, and the cost to print your ticket at the airport will all have to be included in the airfare.

Bree Anderson, a frequent flyer, said she's happy to hear about the change. She said, "It's really nice to have them actually thinking about the consumer for once and not necessarily the big business."

The new regulations have already gone into affect. They also require airlines to notify passengers of flight delays more than 30 minutes.
