Walpole, New Hampshire- A New Hampshire school is put on lockdown after a student reportedly shot him or herself.
It happened Friday afternoon at a school in Walpole attended by fifth through eighth graders.
Investigators say no other students are in danger. They have no details as to who was shot, but say the gunshot was self-inflicted.
The superintendent did not have an immediate comment.
NH Governor John Lynch has released the following statement:
"This is a terrible tragedy and I know that all of New Hampshire shares in the pain and grief of the children, families and community of the Walpole Elementary School," said Lynch. "The state of New Hampshire is offering whatever assistance it can to the community, along with all of our thoughts and prayers."
