12.30.11 New Year's Eve Forecast!

Posted: Updated:

Happy New Years! Almost.

A passing storm through the northeast United States will begin our New Year's Eve with a light wintry mix and temperatures slowly climbing into the 30s and maybe even low 40s.  But the wintry mix won't rain on your midnight plans, I am sure of it!

Temperatures will be very mild for this time of year, so you won't have to bundle up under several layers, just a few will be fine! :-)

The average temperature for this time of year (around midnight) is roughly 20 degrees.  Dozens of towns will be up to (or more than) 10 degrees WARMER than that!  So it will make watching the fireworks in winter a little more bearable.

Town by town, select the one closest to you for a pinpoint temperature forecast @ 12:00:00 AM!

There won't be, necessarily, any cooler or warmer areas.  It will be a pretty wide and even distribution of temperatures in the upper 20s to upper 30s.  I kept the cloud icon on there expecting clouds to gradually clear, with any rain and snow showers wrapping up in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom last (probably around 9 pm).

Have a great and safe New Year's! - Meteorologist Steve Glazier
