Matt Vanderveer

Matt Vanderveer is a videojournalist who joined Fox44 News in January 2012.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Long Beach, California and then moved to San Luis Obispo, California when I was 14. So, I've basically been a beach bum my whole life. Traded it in for the snow!

Where did you go to school?

I received a B.A. in broadcast journalism and a minor in political science from California State University, Northridge.

Where have you worked previously?

I was a reporter and anchor at KKCO in Grand Junction, Co.

What was the most challenging story you've ever done?

It was the day a man was sentenced after he threw his girlfriend's baby against a wall and killed the child. The family was outside protesting the sentencing because they felt the punishment wasn't severe enough. It was a very emotional day that was filled with anger, sadness and lots of crying!

RICHARD Engle and Thomas Roberts

What are your hobbies?

Politics, skiing, swimming and movies! Big movie buff!

What are your favorite sports teams?

I know this answer may get me in trouble with New Englanders, but I have to represent my hometown of LA and say the Lakers!

What is your favorite book?

The first book I could not put down was To Kill a Mockingbird, but I have a ton of favorite books, it is hard to choose!

What is your favorite food?

Italian food! Sun-dried tomatoes, asparagus, chicken and angel hair pasta with a simple cream sauce. Mmmmm!

What is one thing you would put on a "bucket list?"

Have dinner at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant in Paris.
